Victory Cookies!

This is based on a one-cup cookie recipe, which requires one cup of every ingredient. From a practical perspective, very few of the ingredients come in one-cup proportions, so I have modified the recipe to fit what can be found at the market.
Makes 24 2-inch square cookies (approximate dimensions).

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 325°.
  2. Spray a 8x12 or 9x13 glass baking pan with cooking spray, or butter-and-flour the pan.
  3. Mix graham cracker crumbs, chips and coconut together and pour into the pan.
  4. Melt stick of butter and drizzle over the mixture in pan. Do not leave butter unattended on hot stove!
  5. Open can of condensed milk and drizzle over the mixture in pan.
  6. Stir all ingredients throughly in the pan.
  7. Put pan in preheated, 325° oven to bake.
  8. Check after 25 minutes. If mixture is not melted enough on the top, then continue baking for 5 more minutes.
  9. Remove from oven and let cool. While cooling, with a spatula (wooden style works best), carefully free the cookie batch from the sides of the pan. It is often easiest to score the batch at this time, with a knife or wooden spatula, into squares for later cutting.
  10. After cooling, refrigerate the cookies in the pan overnight, and then cut the cookies into squares.
  11. Remove squares from pan and refrigerate or freeze them to prevent them from getting sticky. They are very sweet -- as is victory!
